Dear ,
It's round about this week each year that the long nights and short days start to get to me and I try to remind myself of that Danish idea of Hygge (winter happiness). It's a lovely concept involving cozy nights by the fire, hot chocolate, playing board games with family, hunky Danish men in chunky sweaters...ooh sorry, got a bit carried away there! I'll admit there's not a lot of that round where I live - I don't
have a fire for a start and the chunkiest Danish items I've found in my neighbourhood are pastries *sigh*
Still, at MoneyMagpie we're doing our best to brighten your days in the frenetic run-up to Christmas (hope you enjoyed the 'Box Set' Christmas newsletter we sent you on Saturday!)

Then I'm really pleased to let you know of a new gift card that has come onto the market. It's the Charity Shop Gift Card
and you can use it...yes you guessed it...in charity shops (some of my favourite places to rummage!). It's very new so it doesn't have all the charity shops signed up yet but it will do soon. Also, if you're feeling generous this festive season, you could donate one with £20 or so to a vulnerable family through the website, as clothing poverty is a real problem for many children and young people in this country.
And finally...do you remember last Christmas? I think Boris does. Well while government ministers were having a rave, the rest of us had to stay at home and I decided to do a MoneyMagpie Zoom party for anyone who felt like joining on Christmas Day. It was such fun I've decided to do it again this year. So if you're on your own and feel like meeting people (virtually) or you're ensconced in the bosom of your family and you
just can't stand it anymore, come and join my party on Christmas Day at 4pm. Book your free place here and wear your best party hat/jumper/tinsel!
See you next week!
Love Jasmine :-)

Combatting loneliness at Christmas can feel like a huge task.
Often, when we think of the word loneliness, we detach ourselves from it, we somehow associate it with extreme isolation or not having friends: neither is true, and if the last two years have taught us anything, it is that it can happen to every single one us.
