Dear ,
How expensive is December? Every year I tell people not to get into debt for Christmas as January is a tough enough month and it's not worth making it harder. But then there are such lovely things in the shops, and more people that come to mind for presents and cards, that it's hard for all of us to keep a handle on spending.

We're webinar-tastic at MoneyMagpie this month. Last week we had a really fab session about pensions, savings and creating a nest-egg from a standing start with Romi Savova of PensionBee, Rachel Beard from The Telegraph and financial advisor David Braithwaite. See what they had to say in answer to your questions here.
Speaking of investing, as you know, I'm a big fan of putting your spare cash to work long-term, even a tenner a month if that's what's left over. That's why I have set up a fortnightly investing newsletter for beginners and experienced alike. It's also why I rather like Wombat, an app that uses your
spare pennies (literally, pennies) to put into actual long-term investments for you. It can be such small amounts that you hardly notice the difference day-to-day but long-term you'll be glad you did. See what they can do with your money here.
Oh, and finally, I have just one word for you...Puppies!!! Who doesn't love puppies? Honestly I think puppies and kittens are two of the biggest joys in this world and wow, this is so momentous I am standing up as I type this...we have found a job for you that involves playing with puppies all day. Yes, all day. It's so good I might just give up my day job and go and do that instead. Well all right I won't for the moment,
but you might like to! Check it out here.
Stay warm, don't spend too much but do give as much love as you can manage to family and friends this month!
See you next week.

One of the questions we often get asked at MoneyMagpie is: how do we access hardship grants? How do we access funds fast?
One thing a lot of people aren’t fully aware of is that there are lots of hardship grants available when times are hard.
It is a priority to round these up for our readers and help you get on your feet again, particularly with increased living costs meaning we are all feeling the strain.

DVLA wants to warn drivers over 70 wishing to renew their driving licences to be wary of websites claiming to be affiliated with the official DVLA.
While using Google search, drivers can be mislead by high-profile websites offering services similar to the DVLA but that are nothing to do with them.
DVLA reminds drivers to use GOV.UK, the official government website, which will not charge extra money for licence renewals.

New research shows that 15 million UK adults will be saving money by spending less this Christmas*, with one in ten Brits concerned that this Christmas will leave them in financial strife, according to GoCompare Money.
The research, which asked more than 2000 people how they were feeling about money this Christmas, also revealed that just under a third (31%) say they are going to have to be very careful with Christmas spending, and 6% will be spending money they haven’t got.
