Hello ,
Another week, another set of price rises.
There doesn't seem to be any let-up and, I'm sorry to say, the news is not going to get better for a while.
If you're wondering who or what to blame for the current (and coming) inflation figures look no further than lockdowns and the governments that imposed them.
As I explain in this article, the lockdowns suppressed production, broke supply chains, paid people to stay at home and generally destroyed economies across the planet. These price rises are the result and will be with us for a while yet. Add the Ukraine
crisis into the mix and that's the cherry on the top.

As I said last week, though, we at MoneyMagpie are starting a campaign to get our government to pay our energy bills this year. It is, admittedly, still us the taxpayer who will foot the bill, but I'd rather they spent our money on something useful rather than wasting it
on digital IDs, useless and overpriced PPE equipment or (as they did in 2009) bailing out a broke high street bank for £57 billion. I'll be emailing you about our campaign and how you can join in later this week.
Also, we have a FREE webinar for you (sponsored by eToro) all about what you should put your money in now if you're a new (or nervous) investor. It's totally free, is full of experts who know what they're talking about when it comes to investing and YOU are invited!
Ooh, and we have a really interesting podcast for you to watch/listen to where I interviewed a couple of 'guys wot know' about clever things like currency, money systems and more. I spoke to John Butler and Gorden Kerr about the nightmare Central Bank Digital Currencies - what they are and how they could affect our lives if we let the government bring them out. Essential viewing so do take a look here.
Love, Jasmine
PS. we're serious about the 'let us know how we can help' statement in the email subject-line. Are you facing tough times? Email us at editorial@moneymagpie.com and we will see how we can help

Last week we were told that inflation is at a thirty-year high of 7%.
Our government, and other governments in the West, are trying to pin the blame on the Ukraine crisis.
It’s not because of Ukraine though, it’s because of the lockdowns around the world that were imposed in 2020 and 2021.
