Hello , Have you noticed...it's Black Friday this week? Now I like a
bargain as much as the next person but the madness around this Friday is pretty much out of control. Like Bonfire Night it seems to go on for two weeks and, also like Bonfire Night, if you don't watch it you can get your fingers burned! There are some good deals to be had on Black Friday (and Cyber Monday - does anyone care about that one anymore?) but there are a LOT of scams going on too, both from scammers and from desperate
retail outlets. I'm not saying the retailers are acting criminally but you really have to know what you want to buy and how much it should be in order to be able to work out if the current 'deal' is genuine. |
| |
There are always a load of offers around this time that frankly aren't offers at all...they just look like it. So my advice is: know what you want before you look around in the Black Friday sales, know what the normal price is and then look to see if you can get it cheaper this week. If you can't, walk away. Don't go looking around to see if
there's another deal to be had because that's when you'll get sucked into buying something you don't need or want just because it's got a "70% off" tag on it. So be careful, keep your wits about you and remind yourself that this is just one of many sales we will have in the next couple of months so if you don't grab it now, you'll probably get another chance in a few weeks' time! Oh, and if you do have an interesting experience with Black Friday this week, tell us about it on
our Messageboards. We've had quite a few queries and comments on those in the last few weeks and I wanted to remind you that you can put any questions or comments you want there and my team and I will answer questions as quickly as we can. Go and join in the conversations or put your question there now. I'll take a look as soon as you have! You might even have a good recipe for under £1 to tell the rest of us about. Get some inspiration from our list of cheap and tasty recipes here. Or maybe you have ideas for keeping warm without
putting the heating on to add to ours here. Tell us on the Messageboards and we can all learn something! And in the meantime, if you go out to the shops or go online...just be careful out there
