Hello , It's been another turbulent week financially, and therefore another busy one for me! Actually things have calmed down in the markets after their (over)reaction to the
Mini Budget. Even the pound is up a bit against the dollar ($1.13 as I write). Personally I think we need to give the Government's plans a few months to bed-in before jumping to conclusions. All sorts of things can happen in that time: good and bad. Give it some time to work, or not work, and then we can make more informed comments. Another big financial news item
this week (there have been so many of them!) was that PayPal decided to cancel a few small organisations it didn't like politically, including the Free Speech Union, The Daily Sceptic and the children's charity #UsForThemUK. |
| |
After a few days PayPal was forced to back down after MPs got involved. However, I heard from Toby Young, who runs Free Speech Union and The Daily Sceptic, that he's not going to use PayPal again and is in fact campaigning against financial censorship. I mention this because I am campaigning against it too in my way. If you've
seen our article on how various banks and other financial institutions cancel people and organisations just because they don't like their views (although they're happy to have violent criminals on their books) you will see our take on this. It's worth knowing about as, you
never know, you could get cancelled by one of them one day for saying that 2 + 2 = 4 or something similarly wicked. But enough about politics. Let's get to the fun stuff! We've got some great exclusive deals for you in our voucher vaults, Our frugal blogger, Jane, has some fab Autumn activity ideas
and we show you how to make money easily with cashback sites. We've also partnered with two tech companies that are committed to making your life wealthier without much effort on your part! Sprive is a clever little app that works out how much you're spending and how much you could potentially save, then sweeps a bit of cash from your bank account into paying off your mortgage each month. With these bits and pieces of money you can pay off your mortgage in double-quick time, saving thousands. Then Wealthify is there to make your retirement richer by helping you transfer your pension (or pensions) into one new pension that you can control. You even get up to £200 cashback for moving your pension. Ooh and don't forget to watch the video of our free investing webinar that we held yesterday. We had investing experts (including Nick Hubble who is interviewed below) answering people's
questions...and they were good questions too about the stock market, about investing in gold, about tax and more. Check it out! And finally, congratulations to our Bake Off Competition winner, Amy Hassall. Enjoy the £100 prize Amy! I'll be on your screens, in your radio and definitely in
your newspapers and online as usual this week so keep your eyes peeled :-) Love Jasmine |

Free Days Out For Families This October
|
Welcome back to our monthly roundup of the best free things to do with children in the capital (and beyond). I’m Emmy and for the last five years I’ve been hunting down the best events and hangouts for Londoners with young kids and writing about them on my blog, bablands.com. I’ve learnt a lot about kids’ activities since I started blogging, but one of my most surprising discoveries is that the best stuff is so often free. With that in mind, I’ll be
partnering with MoneyMagpie each month to bring you the best free days out for families in London and beyond.
