Hello , Welcome to March! I love the fact that the days are getting longer and longer and by the end of the month we will get a whole extra hour of light in the evening. Just imagine all the fun things we’ll be able to do then! Another, not quite so exciting, aspect of March is that it’s
the end of the tax year (I told you it wasn’t that exciting didn’t I?) and it’s a good time to put as much money as possible into your pension and ISA investments. We have a few articles that can help with that. Also this year it’s important to check your National Insurance contributions because this is the last tax
year that you’ll be able to fill in any payment gaps you have back to 2006. From April 6th onwards we will only be allowed to top up the last six year’s-worth of NI payments, which is much less generous. |
| |
The point of this is that the more years of full NI payments we make (up to 35 years), the more money we will get from the State Pension when we retire. So it’s really worthwhile paying any NI we’ve missed, even if it’s just a few weeks in the year to make it complete, if you’re likely not to reach the 35 years target. You can find out more about this, and how to check your payments, here.
So that’s sorted your future out! Let’s see what we’ve got to help you now. We have boxes of free donuts, free tickets to Eurovision (if that floats your boat) and we have free days out across the
UK.
We also take a look at which supermarket is coming up with the cheapest goods at the moment, and quite frankly I was shocked by the huge differences. On a more serious note, we always like to encourage people to invest (where they can), but understand that some of you are nervous - we
therefore take a look at 10 common investing mistakes to avoid. I really hope that this helps buid your confidence. It is even good to remember this stuff as a seasoned investor... For now, enjoy the longer days and brace yourself for some fun stuff planned around International Women's
Day. xxx |
