Hello , Today is World Mental health Day and we want to take a moment to reach out and let you know that if you are struggling there is help available. I myself have awful anxiety and have never hidden away from this or felt shame. Whilst in many
ways it has made me a perfectionist, it has taught me that mental health is not something we can pretend doesn't exist and much like a garden, it is something we have to nurture and be aware of, if not it can spiral out of control quite fast. Often mental health can relate to very real stressors, and financial fear is one of them. Over half of mental health interventions mention finance at some point and it is often named as a key factor for people in crisis. So with the constant pressures of
the cost of living crisis, it is no surprise that mental health issues are at pandemic levels. |

So whilst mental health struggles are far bigger and more serious than simply feeling happy, my Dad always used to tell me to live in every single moment, as you won't have it again (not in a "toxic positivity" way either - we are allowed to feel pain) and whilst I am elated that this is true when it comes to some life moments,
it forces me to enjoy the minuteua of each day. Nature never fails to make me happy. Days spent with my dog and fresh air help enormously. So every day, I take a deep breath (a really good lung full of air) and let myself really be in that moment. The chaos of the world will rush to consume us, yet the birds will still tweet and nature will get along with its business, regardless of what nonsense Rishi and his cronies put us through. This doesn't let them off the hook either. It just reminds me
that the world is a very big place. Anyway, what do you all do to feel happy? Just one tiny thing that makes you smile. Whether it's your cup of tea before the kids get up or your evening meal - what little moments give you perspective? I would love to hear them. I will compile a list of all of our ways to feel happy and share it with our readers - hopefully it will inspire someone who is struggling. Food prices have finally dropped!
|
These last few years have been exhausting. There is so little left of a paycheque, post-bills, and our supermarket shop has been a real hike. Even the budget stores have seen a climb in prices and our basic shop has tripled. It comes as a real relief to see that the prices are finally dropping. British Retail Consortium shop price index has shown this week that food prices have in fact lowered for the first time in two years: prices in September were
down 0.1% from the previous month.
