Hello , Spring is in the air and I am so ready for it! I even got my first haul of wild garlic
on Saturday. I make an incredible pesto from it and it really can make a plain bowl of pasta rather special - all for not very much money. Last week we contributed to The Guardian's cover story on keeping love alive when you have money worries. However, what about when you are single? Fed up with all the couple noise of last week, our lovely Jasmine Birtles has written a rather incredible guide to make and save money when you are not in a couple. I always love how much Jasmine goes against the grain. She's a true original. |

This week we also have a supermarket special - with incredible giveaways, free wine and grocery shops for £3.30. I also wanted to ask you all a question. Have you noticed any easing off of the cost of living crisis? In lieu of the Spring Statement and the anticipated lies about our economy, I just wonder how you are all getting on. Please reply with an honest answer. It will be good to hear what you all have to
say. Best wishes Vicky Parry (Content Editor at MoneyMagpie.com) |

Money Habits - How to Avoid the Debt Spiral
|
My dad once said something very simple but wise to me regarding credit card debt: “It’s as easy to pay off your credit card as it is to spend on it – it’s just a matter of habit.” He’s right of course: we might want to treat ourselves once in a while and stick it on the old “never never” but one fine day we’ll have to pay back everything we borrow. But right there is some good wisdom: small amounts can really pile up, whether it’s from spending or saving.

On the whole, it’s a lot more expensive to be single. You have to shoulder the full burden of the bills, including rent or mortgage, and there’s often the insult of a ‘single supplement’ when you stay in a hotel. So how do you save money, and even make it, when you’re a singleton? Here’s how…
