Money Magpie Website

Hi ,

3 THINGS YOU MUST DO THIS WEEK

Enjoy a special discount as a "thank you"... we're chuffed to report that the number of subscribers to our newsletter is at an all time high - so as a thank you for your support, we've secured you an exclusive discount from Dealtastic. This site offers amazing daily deals on gadgets, gifts, and home and garden items - and as a newsletter subscriber, you get an extra 15% discount by using the code magpie15 (it's valid 12-18 of July, and can be used as many times as you like).

Fancy eating, drinking, and having a flutter for free...? JKS Mystery Shopping needs mystery shoppers to visit casinos with a friend, and test the in-house restaurants, gaming, slot machines and bar food. You will be reimbursed your expenses (including any gambling costs - though as you might expect, some T&Cs apply). Should you strike lucky and make any winnings, you get to keep them! You must be 21 or over to take part. The list of casino locations and details on how to apply are here

Don't get taken for a ride by the energy companies... British Gas has shocked households across the UK by announcing a rise in its gas and electricity prices by 18% and 16% - leading to average bills costing an outrageous £190-£200 more a year! But it's not just British Gas customers who should worry - the other major energy suppliers are expected to follow suit soon.

This means everyone should check their tariff and consider going for a fixed deal before prices rise. Mark Todd of energyhelpline.com recommends that customers switch to a three-year fixed tariff. For example, if energy prices rise by an average of 15%, EDF's current three-year fix deal would save you £643 between 2011-14 against the average energy bill over that time. Find out in two ticks how much you could save by using our easy energy comparison tool.
