THE MONEYMAGPIE JUBILEE SPECIAL Dear , Happy Jubilee weekend - I hope you've had a really lovely break. I certainly have and I'm very grateful to have had a couple of days off.I just wish our Bank Holidays could be spaced out a bit more! One really great thing about the Jubilee is that it has enabled us to take back control of our Union Jack. It's been in the hands of extremists for too long and it's nice to have it back in normal life on cups, plates, cake stands and handbags, as I've mentioned in my blog. WHAT THE MAGPIES LIKE ABOUT BRITAIN Jasmine: 'I love the fact that Brits are so amazing in a crisis. We don't panic or have hysterics. We rise to the occasion and quietly deal with it. I love the British countryside, particularly the coastline, the Cotswolds, Devon, the Highlands, Northern Irish countryside, North Wales and the Lake District. I also love British Puddings. Any form of crumble, sponge or pie with custard is OK with me. And of course our afternoon tea, one of my favourite things in the world.' Carl: 'I love the people of Britain and their idiosyncrasies. I love the way we leave a car worth thousands of pounds outside in the rain while the lawnmower and bikes are safely stored in the garage. I love the way we look forward to going on holiday but can't wait to get back to our own bed. Mostly I love the way we stock up on a month's worth of food at Christmas because the supermarkets are closed for a day.' Roz: 'I like the way the British act up to the hard, 'keep calm and carry on' exterior which is how the rest of the world views us, but in reality we're a lot kinder, friendlier and more willing to help others than we give ourselves credit for.' Mike: 'Watching the covers get dragged on and off Lords every 10 minutes on the drizzling first day of the first test of the summer, giving up by 2pm and going to a pub instead. It doesn't get more British than that.' Lauren: 'I LOVE our country. I love our history, our humour and, when the stakes are down, the way we always pull together. London in the summer is the greatest place in the world - in the winter it's still pretty magical. There's something very special about us Brits and I couldn't be prouder to say I was born here.' Paul: 'The thing I love most about Britain is the weather. I throw open the curtains each morning and think: "Yes! Drizzle."'
