Hello ,

We have turned the corner…

It might not feel like it yet, but I really think we’re on the home stretch now. I also think that the lockdown will lift earlier than we believed. it would certainly be good news for the economy which is losing £2.4bn a day from closed businesses.

Some said, back in March, that the lockdown wouldn’t last as long as predicted, and now I think we will see movement and some businesses opening again at least by early May. Let’s hope anyway!

But in the meantime...

There are many, many financial issues that need to be addressed coming out of the Coronavirus crisis. We know there are issues cropping up every day, from what we read in the emails and posts we get from readers.

We’ve responded to a lot of them with a whole host of articles in our Coronavirus section about Universal Credit, furloughing, freelancers, how to make money during lockdown and more.

Blue skies are ahead of us...

…and now is a great time to get ready for them.

This quiet time is a great opportunity to improve your earning prospects going forward:

• If you’ve been made redundant or suspect you will be, get your CV spruced up, work on your interview technique and start to contact companies that you would like to work for – whether they have advertised a position or not.

• If you’ve wanted to set up your own business or change direction in your work, use this time to do all the research you need and even take some training. There are free ways to learn online so make the most of your spare time to get trained-up.

• Also use this time to get on top of your money, if you’re able to. Sort out your bank statements, see if there’s anything you’re overpaying on, switch utilities and other regular payments to slash your monthly costs and generally get your outgoings sorted before you have to go back to work.

...and don't forget to laugh!

There’s a lot to be happy about – the weather for a start – and there are loads of clever jokes and funny vids whipping around the internet.
