Add to this the news that text message fraud (mainly those texts that tell you you have a parcel waiting) is up 83% from last year and that scam artists are now texting people hoping for an NHS covid pass, and you can see that we all need to be evermore vigilant. Tomorrow I'm on BBC's You and Yours programme talking about what to do if you suspect your ID has been stolen, so have a listen if you're near a radio at 12.30.

 

The fact is that, although it's tiresome and boring, we now have to question everything that comes in via text, email and phone. 

 

Also, stay clued-up about scams through our Rip-off Britain section which regularly has new articles about the latest frauds that you need to be aware of. We also make sure that any new scams we hear about get mentioned in this newsletter so keep checking (and tell your friends to sign-up so that they can be protected too!).
